Today I got the worst news from one of the best human beings I know.

Two of the kindest, gentlest, best parents I know in the world lost their son in a random and unpredictable manner and none of us will ever be the same.  I will not write the details here because the details really only matter to them.  I only know that Kevin was adored by his parents, who loved him and raised him well.
There is no comfort in this, except that in his short time, Kevin had the world’s best parents and a childhood to be envied.
The rest is a mystery that I expect stumps even God.
And if it stumps God, words certainly fail me.
God be with you ’til we meet again.

Wife of one, mother of six, Grammy to eight (so far) and lawyer for many young persons, I love to sing, read, knit and walk. My politics are somewhat left of Marx and I want to hear what you think, too!

  1. I’m so sorry. There is little one can say in such a situation, except that my prayers will be with you and Kevin’s family.

  2. We lost my nephew (19) in June 08 – tragic, senseless, and all those other adjectives that don’t help. I feel your sadness and I pray for his family and friends.

A belated birthday wish to you also – mine was the 21st which is odd b/c the last blog that I popped into – the writer’s bday was the day before mine… some say there are no coincidences, I don’t know that I believe that.

    Take care,

  3. Cathy – so sorry for your loss and that of your family! Every time this happens it’s like a light goes out from the world!
Take care and Happy birthday to you, too!
